PUPPY GROUP CLASSES

Because the puppy stage in a dog’s life is so critical and the time that creates the “blueprint” for how they will handle and react to new things, our puppy classes are specifically designed to give puppies the best possible start in life using positive training methods to enhance the human animal bond. Our goal is to give you the tools you need to create a strong relationship with your puppy while building a solid foundation for the future, focusing on socialization skills, confidence building, play skills and basic manners.

Since the puppy stage goes by so quickly and it is a critical social period, we offer open enrollment for our Puppy Pre-School class  so you can start class at any time.   This means that you can register and start a class when you are ready instead of waiting for the next class to start.

Requirements:   Puppies will need to have received a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first de-worming.   The vaccine schedule should be followed and kept up-to–date while enrolled in a class.

Puppy Start Right (8 weeks –  4 months in age)

In this class you will learn how to socialize your puppy to strangers, other dogs, noises and different environments.  This class will help your puppy build focus, attention and confidence, building a positive foundation that will follow them throughout the rest of their life, and give you the tools needed to enhance your relationship through better communication and understanding.

The class will focus on enhancing socialization skills, good manners and confidence building.

Using reward-based training methods, we introduce your puppy to being handled, explore novel objects, while learning to focus on you.

Your puppy will learn:   How to adapt to new and strange people, animals, objects and environments.   They will also learn some basic manners such as name recognition, come when called, polite greeting, trade and to focus on you, all while having fun.

We will also discuss house training, chewing, nipping, jumping, digging and how to build a trusting relationship with your puppy.

Puppies also get to enjoy free play in a controlled setting (based on appropriate puppy behavior).

Puppy Kindergarten and Socialization (4 months – 9 months in age)

Puppy Kindergarten class is for puppies that have not had group training or are recent graduates of our Puppy Pre-School class or something similar.   You will learn how to socialize your growing puppy to strangers, other dogs, noises and different environments.  This class will give you and your puppy the tools needed to continue building a solid relationship through clear, concise communication, games and fun.

The class will help your puppy build focus, attention and confidence, while continuing to enhance good social skills, basic manners and confidence.

Your puppy will learn:   How to deal with stressful situations such as handling by a stranger, owner separation, and to focus even with distraction. They will also build on their basic manners such as down, loose leash walking, recall, wait, stay, relaxation and go to mat, all while having fun.
